Law firm SharePoint questions, answered plainly
What firms ask before they connect SharePoint to the matter.
Does Filevine integrate with SharePoint?
Yes. Filevine keeps its own document store, and a two-way integration such as MatterOrbit mirrors every matter into SharePoint document libraries and sends SharePoint edits back to the matter. MatterOrbit is a certified Filevine integration listed in the Filevine marketplace and built on Filevine's official partner API.
What is the difference between a SharePoint backup and two-way sync?
A backup copies files out of the case management system on a schedule and stops there; an edit made in SharePoint never returns to the matter. Two-way sync watches both sides, applies a conflict rule when the same document changes in both places, prevents webhook loops and records every transfer, so the copy in SharePoint and the copy on the matter stay the same.
How fast does a change show up?
Most changes land near real time through webhooks. If a webhook is missed, a 5-minute poll catches it, and a nightly reconciliation sweep checks every matter.
What happens if two people edit the same document?
The firm's conflict strategy decides: last writer wins (the default), Filevine authoritative, SharePoint authoritative, keep both versions, or manual review in the dashboard queue. No silent overwrites; every decision is recorded.
Does it handle long legal filenames?
Yes. A SharePoint file or folder name over Filevine's 250-character path limit is truncated to fit while the original full name is kept in the middleware, so the document stays findable. Nothing is dropped on the floor.
How does it access our Microsoft 365 tenant?
Through Microsoft Graph with Azure AD per-tenant consent, not a firm's own credentials. SOC 2 Type 2 controls apply.
What does it cost?
One monthly subscription quoted for your firm, scoped on the setup call to your matter count, backfill volume and mapping work. Not a custom build and not per document. Ask for the quote on the call.
Can you also migrate us onto Filevine?
Yes. Micronetbd is a Filevine implementation partner and migrates firms from Needles, Neos, ProLaw and others. Doing the migration and the SharePoint sync as one project means you start in sync on day one.
We are on Litify, not Filevine. Can you help?
Micronetbd implements Litify and Salesforce for law firms as well as Filevine. Tell us your platform and your document setup and we will say what two-way sync looks like for you.
